The CaCCSS expects mathematically proficient geometry students to experiment, explain, prove, visualize, understand, derive, and translate between representations. Students are expected to demonstrate geometric habits of mind, and be proficient in the Standards of Mathematical Practice.
This expanded view of student proficiencies will require that teachers have greater flexibility and deeper content knowledge. Teachers will need to employ a greater variety of teaching strategies, and weave deep mathematical content and mathematical habits of mind into a well-orchestrated whole. This is no simple feat! These resources are intended to provide teachers support in making the needed enhancements and changes in instruction in order to implement the CA Common Core State Standards effectively.
